ICED is an international multidisciplinary programme launched in response to the increasing need to develop integrated circumpolar analyses of Southern Ocean climate and ecosystem dynamics.
The ICPO consists of two offices, hosted by China and India, and contract staff, supported by the USA. Overall management and coordination of the ICPO is the responsibility of the ICPO Executive Director who also acts as the primary interface with the CLIVAR SSG co-chairs and the Director, WCRP. The Executive Director is assisted by a Deputy Executive Director.
These numbers only begin to describe the scope of the Census of Marine Life, a 10-year international effort undertaken in to assess the diversity (how many different kinds), distribution (where they live), and abundance (how many) of marine life—a task never before attempted on this scale......
The EUR-OCEANS Consortium (EOC) builds on the legacy of the EC-funded, FP6 EUR-OCEANS European Network of Excellence (EO NoE), which contributed to the scientific expertise and dissemination of knowledge on marine ecosystems in the context of climate/global change from 2005 to 2008. The EUR-OCEANS acronym stands for EURopean research on OCean Ecosystems under Anthropogenic and Natural forcingS.
